Here is a full package for getting weather data when times get tough. Set includes a solar panel that will charge the NIMH battery in the unit. It will not charge rechargeable AA batteries that you can install in the battery bay. Also, the installed NIMH battery works but it is old and should be replaced. There are a few listings for replacements at just under $8 shipped here on eBay. Search for " Kastar Battery for C Crane CC Observer".
A bug out case, pictured, is included. The painted surface of the radio seems very slightly tacky but nothing comes away on your fingers. Also, the only way I got the solar hooked up is pictured above. It does charge. Fluke multimeter is not included. Lots of phone adapters are included but not from this era.
Radio works perfectly on AM, FM, and wether bands. Flashlight is less than stellar but works.
